Ma-Tov seeks to provide a rich summer experience combining the study
of Torah with a full range of sports and arts activities including instructional
and general swim, baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, tennis, mini-golf,
arts and crafts, volleyball, leagues, music, Torah learning, nature and
boating. Special events such as theme days, carnivals, campfires, overnights,
and trips highlight our program.
Chinuch Program
Jewish education and Middot are an integral part of our program. Themes
such as Shabbat, Jewish Heroes, Israel, Tefillah, Pirkei Avot, Ecology
and honor and respect for others, are topics we study. With creativity
and enthusiasm, our Chinuch staff infuse our program with parsha study,
and Shabbat play presentations. Rabbi Vogel enthusiastically hands out
parsha prizes each week to campers who give a D'var Torah at the Shabbat
table.
Sports
In a non-competitive, fun environment, we focus on improvement of sports skills, learning
the rules of the game, teamwork and safe play. Leagues and Olympic games
highlight our program, while having fun and practicing good sportsmanship
are priorities.
Swim
Fully accredited lifeguards and swim instructors teach our campers new
skills during instructional swim based on the Red Cross Model. Our new
water slide is a major attraction, while our spray grounds keep us cool
and refreshed when we're not in the pool.
Nature
A full array of pets and fish reside in our nature house. Campers interact
with rabbits, guinea pigs, newts, salamanders, chicks, ducks, and a hundred
year old tortoise. They watch the development of tadpoles, catch butterflies
and frogs, make sassafras tea, and do scientific experiments. Campers
study leaves including poison ivy, poison oak, and sumac. They watch as
eggs hatch into living beings and mothers care for their young.
Art and Music
Jewish themes permeate both our arts and music programs. Art projects
are often related to Jewish or Israeli themes or holiday objects. Many
different mediums are used in art to create beautiful projects. Ceramic
projects and glazing is a specialty.
Drama / Presentation
Each week a different group prepares a play for our Shabbos Program on
Parsha, holiday, or theme related topics.
Late nights / Overnights
Campers enjoy added swim, sports, dinner and marshmallow roast. Older
campers stay overnight and experience a camp-away atmosphere with added
hiking and evening activities.
